Job Description:
As a Regional Accounting Specialist, you will support both the Regional Accounting Controller and the Accounting Manager. Your primary role will be to ensure the accurate application of accounting policies and procedures, as well as the production of detailed financial statements and shipping management reports. This role demands a robust knowledge of accounting, reporting, and analysis, with a specific emphasis on IFRS standards. Fluency in both French and English is mandatory.
Job Responsibilities:
- Drive the monthly financial reporting and performance reviews in coordination with the Cargo Reporting Manager.
- Conduct quarterly balance sheet analyses, identify and address any issues, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
- Maintain the general ledger in collaboration with regional agencies, including managing journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
- Identify and implement process improvements within the accounting department to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Enhance and document accounting policies, procedures, and controls in close cooperation with the Accounting Processes and Controls Manager.
- Facilitate both internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively to organize work and meet stringent deadlines.
Qualifications & Education:
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Controlling, or Audit.
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CFA, etc.) highly desirable.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Big 4 firm (Audit, Transaction Services) or a similar role in other international groups.
- Proactive in identifying and resolving potential issues before they escalate.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Effective communication skills, essential for presenting financial information clearly.
- Organized and structured, yet hands-on in managing tasks.
- Strong decision-making skills to ensure effective resolutions.
- Profound knowledge of both IFRS and Swiss accounting standards according to the Swiss Code of Obligations.
- Excellent team player with a proven ability to work collaboratively across multi-site teams.
Main Stakeholders and Working Relationships:
- Key interactions will be with the Reporting Manager, Accounting Manager, Regional Accounting Teams, Chief Accounting Officer, Agencies’ CFOs, Group Reporting and Consolidation department, and Regional CFOs teams.
