GT appoints EY man as financial services tax partner

Grant Thornton has strengthened its financial services tax team with the appointment of EY’s Richard Milnes as partner.

Previous to his post at EY, Milnes also worked in in international tax for Shell and as head of tax planning for Lloyds TSB before moving to a front office tax structuring and transactional role at Lloyds.

Milnes is to be based at Grant Thornton’s London office.

Within his role Milnes will cover corporate and financial structuring for financial services groups and advising them on the tax implications of regulatory reform and emerging industry taxes, such as the UK bank levy.

Grant Thornton feel Milnes will add a lot of strength to the team with his in-depth technical knowledge and commercial wisdom.

Milnes stated “Grant Thornton’s expertise in the financial services sector is truly impressive and I look forward to complementing and helping grow this through genuine, relationship-driven services across the banking and capital markets landscape.”
